Strong Was Her Faith: Women of the New Testament by J. Ellsworth Kalas

This book focuses on the both obvious and understated, to the story of the New Testament. In twelve chapters, the author looks into the life and times of eleven different women, with Mary the mother Jesus being the focus of two chapters. Kalas examines the scriptures to see what we can learn about these women and what we can learn from them, and how each women is part of and shaped the New Testament story.

Detective Stories from the Bible by J. Ellsworth Kalas is our study for our evening bible study class. When we think of a detective story, we often think of muders mysteries. The bible contains some detective stories, but they might best be called "life mysteries." These stories are not all mystery stories in the conventional sense of the word, but they investigate  incidents, personalities, and topics that ought to catch the interest of anyone with a dectivive's turn of mind.
