Dr. Martin G. McCain - Pastor

Pastor McCain is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He is a graduate of Virginia Union University (B.A. in History/Political Science), Gammon Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity), and United Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry).  Dr. McCain has served in the North Georgia, Virginia, Northern Illinois, South Indiana, and Memphis Annual Conferences of The United Methodist Church. 

 

A retired Navy Commander in the United States Chaplain Corp, he has been married for twenty-nine years to Terri, an elementary school educator and has two children, Martin, Jr. and Mia.  Pastor McCain is a golf, tennis, and jazz enthusiast.

 

Pastor McCain’s favorite Bible text is Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

 


Dr Charles K. Pender - Director of Music and Worship

Dr. Charles K. Pender was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee.  He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University (B.A. degree in Music Industry), Memphis State University (master's degree), and The American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, Illinois (doctorate in music performance).  Prior to becoming a professor of music at Southwest Tennessee Community College, he taught music at several schools in the Memphis area. 

Dr. Pender has enjoyed master classes with many renowned jazz artists such as Donald Brown, James Williams, and Mulgrew Miller.  He often performs with his jazz group Testimony, with his wife, LaShawn DeBose Pender, as vocalist. 

Dr. Pender greatly enjoys helping to promote and instruct young aspiring artists to reach their full musical potential.

Isaiah Henderson - Asst. Sexton

Mr. Hendeson served as our sexton for three years and retired so that he could really be retired. He is a native of Arkansa and has been a Christian for all of his adult life. He is married , a father and a grandfather. He loves to attend bible study and sunday school. We are thankful the Mr. Henderson is willing to assist our sexton with opening and closing the church when no one is available. Mr. Henderson is an active member of Grace Church.
